Key Issues

  • As Justices Clarence Thomas and John Marshall Harlan have said, our “Constitution is color-blind, and neither knows nor tolerates classes among citizens.”

Judge Liu believes, in the words of Chief Justice John Roberts, that the “way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” He opposes identity politics that divide us into different categories rather than unite us all as one American people.

As a litigator and legal academic, Judge Liu advocated staunchly against racial discrimination. He was one of the earliest volunteers for Students for Fair Admissions, and he filed an amicus brief supporting the organization’s lawsuit against Harvard University in the U.S. Supreme Court. The Court relied on his arguments in its landmark decision that ended Harvard’s policy of discriminating against Asian Americans in admissions.

The founder of Students for Fair Admissions, Edward J. Blum, has endorsed incumbent Judge Cory Liu and serves as the treasurer for his campaign.

  • Benjamin Franklin once said, “Without freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom – and no such thing as public liberty without freedom of speech.” And John Adams famously observed that, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Freedom of speech and religion are the first freedoms outlined in the First Amendment of the Constitution, and for good reason: they are the foundational rights that all others are built upon.

As a litigator, Judge Liu worked with religious liberty organizations, such as the First Liberty Institute, to defend religious freedom.

Kelly Shackelford, founder of First Liberty Institute, has endorsed incumbent Judge Cory Liu and supports his continued service on the bench.

  • As Austin grows, so do the challenges we face. Over the past decade, we have seen an alarming decline in public safety, and unfortunately, rather than lifting up our uniformed first responders and providing them with the support they need, many of our government officials attack them.

Judge Liu honors the sacrifices of our uniformed officers and believes that those who harm others by violating the law can and should face legal consequences for their actions.

Stand for justice.
